SACE call on educators to guard and protect the status of the profession.
Centurion, Wednesday, 02 April 2014
The South African Council for Educators is shocked to learn about the alleged sexual abuse of a 12 year old learner, by a teacher at Mushothi Primary School in Dzangoma village near Tzaneen in Limpopo.
We condemn the sexual abuse of learners and as Council we view these in a very serious light.
We have already enrolled the case and a panel has been set up to investigate these allegations and we are in the process of recommending to the department of Basic Education to put this teacher on precationary suspension.
We also call on the broader society to report such cases to SACE as soon as they have knowledge of such incidence.
We call on all our teachers to vigilantly guard and protect the status of the profession by refraining from such behaviour.
